About Can My Dog Come?

Can My Dog Come? is an independent guide to where you can take your dog. We started with beaches because the rules are hard to find: each council publishes its own, in its own format, and they change from season to season.

How we check

• Every beach page links to the council's own rules, so you can see the source for yourself.
• Every page shows the date we last checked it.
• We re-check every beach each spring, before the summer bans start, and whenever a council renews its rules.
• Where we have not been able to confirm a beach's rules, we leave it off rather than guess.

Please follow the signs

We work hard to keep this accurate, but councils can change their rules, and landowners such as the National Trust sometimes add their own. The signs on the beach on the day are what count.

Spotted a mistake?

If a sign on the beach says something different from this site, we would like to know so we can check it. Email heydoggie@canmydogcome.co.uk, or use the "Report a change" button on any beach page.
