This site does not use cookies, does not ask for your details and does not run any tracking or analytics scripts.

The search box works entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us.

If you use "Beaches near me", your phone or browser asks your permission first. Your location is used only on that page, in your browser, to sort beaches by distance. It is never sent to us or stored.

Saved beaches and the filters you choose are kept in your browser's own storage on your device so the site can remember them. They are not sent to us, and you can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's data for this site.

Maps show map pictures from OpenStreetMap. When a map appears on screen, your browser fetches those pictures from OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address in the normal way. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

The "Report a change" form does not send anything itself: it opens your own email app with a message to us, which you can edit or cancel.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working for this. The logs are kept by the hosting provider for a short period and are not used to identify you.

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and delete them once the conversation is finished unless we need to keep them for a legal reason.

You have rights over your personal information, including to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
