Dog-friendly beaches in the Channel Islands

The dog rules for 75 beaches on Jersey, Guernsey, Herm and Alderney, beach by beach. 24 allow dogs all year. Jersey never closes a beach to dogs, but asks for leads from 10:30am to 6pm in summer. Guernsey, Herm and Alderney close named beaches to dogs in summer: on Guernsey and Herm from 1 May to 30 September, on Alderney from 1 June to 15 September.

Each island makes its own rules, so these come from the island's government, not a council. Jersey is planning a shorter summer season for 2027. Check signs on the day.

Still checking: the beaches on Sark (Dixcart Bay, Grande Grève, Grève de la Ville, Derrible Bay, Port du Moulin and Havre Gosselin). They will appear here once we have confirmed the rules with the island's government.
